Obituary

Lawrence Valentine Breunig, age 87, died on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born in Roxbury on October 4, 1922, the son of the late Arnold and Margaret (Marx) Breunig. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 11th Airborne Division from 1944-1947 during World War II. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Theis on November 20, 1947. Together, they lived in Martinsville where they raised seven children. Lawrence loved spending Sundays with family, picnicing, fishing, and umping at C.Y.O. baseball games. He was employed by MG&E as a linesman. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #3924, American Legion Post #245 of Cross Plains, and the Catholic Knights.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorraine; seven children, Linda (Larry) Millard of Madison, Arnold (Jennifer) of Middleton, Charles (Betty) of Prairie du Sac, Joan Cole of Prairie du Sac, Philip (Linda) of Prairie du Sac, Louise (Dennis) Powell of Middleton, and James (Lisa) of Sauk City; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Kuehn of Waunakee; many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, John; son-in-law, Steve Cole; two sisters, Barbara Kruchten and Antoinette Dohm; brother Mike Maier; and step-parents, Henry and Margaret Maier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2010 with Father Jared Hood officiating. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2010, and also at the funeral home on Sat., morning from 9:00am until 10:15am.
