Obituary

Lawrence Joseph Huber, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at St. Clare Meadows Nursing Home in Baraboo. He was born on July 31, 1923 to John and Sofena (Alwin) Huber in the Township of Honey Creek. Lawrence married Lola O'Brien on November 30, 1944 at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City. He farmed on the family farm of his childhood until his retirement in 1985. In addition to farming, he served on the Board of Directors and was Executive Secretary of the Merrimac Mutual Insurance Company for 38 years. Mr. Huber was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. He served on the ASCS Board as a delegate from Honey Creek. Lawrence graduated from the Fernside Grade School, the Prairie du Sac High School in 1941 and the Coyne Electrical School, Chicago in 1942. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George, and three sisters, Marie Bannon, Catherine Gasper and Gertrude Franke. Lawrence is survived by his wife Lola, daughters Judy (Alan Seraphine), Jan (Duane Vorndran), grandchildren, Michael Foss, Roxane Foley, Kristine (Steve) Papaila, and Korry (Heidi) Vorndran, great grandchildren Michael, Joseph, Aiden, and Jonathan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 28 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City with Fr. Jared Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday, November 27 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City where the Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 6:45 PM. Friends may also call one hour prior to service at the funeral home Saturday.
