Leah Marie, age 85, loving wife, mother, sister, and neighbor passed away into eternity on Fri. Jan., 29, 2016 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City. The oldest daughter of Arthur and Gaby (Wholing) Fish; born Feb. 14, 1930. She attended school in the Reedsburg area until the eighth grade, and then she stayed home to help on the farm. Leah worked at the Reedsburg telephone company as an operator until 1951, when she met and married her roller skating partner, Clifford M. Schweppe, Feb. 20, 1951. Over the next 64 years they farmed together in the Westpoint Township. Besides farming, Leah had many hobbies, from painting, ceramics, sculpting, macramé, upholstery, stained glass work, cake decorating, tailoring, sewing, quilting, reading, writing, and dancing with the local Square Dance Club, the Tri-County Squares. After raising two daughters, Leah and Cliff returned to school to obtain their GED and attended MATC graduating with Associate Degrees in Sheep Management and Production. In their retirement years, they became winter snow birds ad resided in Mission, TX.
Leah is survived by her husband, Clifford, daughters, April (Larry) Sawyer, Cheryl (Randy) Wruck; grandchildren, Joanna (Andy) Jones, Nathan Sawyer, Miranda (John) Jager, Phillip (Jessica), Bethany (fiancé Christopher Hultgrin), and Sarah Wruck; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Julia, Lillian and Ethan Jones, Ryan and Sean Jager, James and Jack Wruck.
Her siblings, Barbara (Alfred) Schneider, Dona Swanson, Mary Ellen (John) Voltz, Robert Fish, Mark Fish, Vicky (Kenneth) Martinson, Karla Fish, and Sheri (Scott) Handley; sister –inlaw, Shirley (Lawrence) Rens; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Arthur Jr., Franklin Lewis, Gary, Garth Fish and Patricia Weldy; brother's in-law, Frank Weldy and Stanly Swanson; nephews and niece, Randy Fish, Dennis Schneider, Scott Fish, Marshall Rens and Gaya Mae Wenz; and a granddaughter, Abigal Wruck.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am on Sat. May 21, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of service. A potluck luncheon will be held following the service, please bring a dish to pass. Following the luncheon the interment will be held in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.
