Lidwina C. Breunig, age 100 passed away on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Maplewood Nursing Home. She was born on April 10, 1909 in Roxbury, the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Ballweg) Breunig. She was united in marriage to Vincent J. Breunig on September 1, 1931. Mrs. Breunig farmed with her husband and was a lifetime member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters, C.C.W., a volunteer with the Red Cross and at Maplewood and was the coordinator/cook at the church for funerals for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, chocheting and gardening.
Survivors include five children; LaVern (Patricia) of Monona,
Allan (Florentine) , Ervin (Beverly), Merlin (Marilyn) all of Roxbury and
Mae (Don) Magnuson of Mount Horeb,
23 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren,
two sisters-in-law, Armella Nolden and Veronica Breunig,
other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2001. a grandson, Lee, a great-granddaughter, Emma, two sisters, Sister Lucy and Hildegarde and four brothers, Conrad, Ewald, Roman and Gerald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 15 at 10:30 AM at St. Norbert's Church with Fr. Miguel Galvez officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City on Sunday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM.and on Monday one hour prior to service. The C.C.W. will lead the rosary at 2:45pm.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff for the wonderful care received at Maplewood Village and Maplewood Nursing Home and to Fr. Miguel for his prayers and concern.
