Lilah (Hicks) Porter, 98, passed away at Maplewood Nursing Home, Sauk City, on May 4, 2013. She had recently resided at Maplewood Assisted Living. She was born April 12, 1915, in Sauk City. She was married to the love of her life, Virgil Porter, on May 1, 1937. Virgil always affectionately referred to her as his "bride." They lived in Madison the majority of their lives. He preceded her in death in March, 2001. Lilah was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Charlotte Hicks; her brothers and their wives, Lester (Isabel), Harry (Alma), Howard (Freda), George "Red" (Lorraine "Curly"), Norman "Barney"; her sister, Helen; her nephew, John "Jack" Hicks; and her nieces, Shirley Swenson, Helen Hart, and Kristine and Sharon Hicks. Lilah is survived by her sister-in-law, Deloris Hicks, along with many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ. According to her wishes, there will be a private burial service.
