Obituary

Linus Francis Bollig, age 77, passed away on Thursday, Jan 6, 2011 at Walnut Grove Assisted Living in Middleton. He was born in Mazomanie, February 6, 1933 to the late Raphael and Doris (Higgins) Bollig. Linus worked at the Bollig Family Mobil Gas Station in Mazomanie with his brother Billy for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Mazomanie. Linus was proud to have served his country during the Korean War in the Air Force. He was a member of the Ewing Olson VFW Post of Arena and a lifetime member of the Greening-Buelow American Legion Post 437 of Mazomanie.


He is survived by a sister, Betty Murphy of Mazomanie; sister-in-law, Charlotte Bollig of Mazomanie; niece, Mary (Bill) Bowman and their son Dylan of Mazomanie; and great nieces, Chelsea and Cassandra. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William "Billy" Bollig; and a nephew, Thomas Murphy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Mazomanie on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Barnabas Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Hwy. 14 West, Mazomanie and also at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
