Linus V. Gilding, age 85, died on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born on March 12, 1930, the son of the late Clarence and Louise (Kelter) Gilding. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Reed on January 24, 1953. Linus always had a passion for farming and working the land. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.


He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; 4 children, Dean, Linda (Bernard) Statz, JoAnn (Gary) Bindl and Kevin (Jodie) Gilding; 5 grandchildren, Jessie (Cyndi) Gilding, Kelli (Alan) Trevino, Araina Gilding, Lacey (Paul) Bindl and Lindsey Bindl; 3 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bernard Gilding. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Gilding; a brother, Clarence; and a sister, Virginia Myers.


A funeral service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015. Burial will follow in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
