Obituary

Lois Ann O'Connell (Reeve) of Mazomanie passed away on Saturday, February 03, 2018 at Sauk Prairie Health Care surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 13, 1933 to the parents of Ruby (Rolstad) and Orville Reeve. Lois did not have an easy childhood and it shaped her to work hard as she was very independent and her tenacity would serve her well all through her life.

She was united in marriage to the love of her life Joseph L. O'Connell on June 7, 1952. Over their seventeen year marriage they raised three children, Jackie, Danny and Kate. Soon she would be a widow at the young age of 36. She again worked hard to support her three children waitressing for many years and worked for the Dane County Register of Deeds. Again, life again would throw her a curve ball. Through no fault of her own she could no longer work as she had before.

If God has plans for us then hers was to serve those in need and she turned her loving gifts to help those around her through her relentless work for the local food pantry and all of the patrons that came there. No one went hungry on her watch even if she had to deliver it herself or meet people there at odd hours. She loved fishing, baseball and supporting her son's home talent team and booster club. She loved her neighbors, her church and her family.
Yet her greatest gift was her beautiful music. She played the piano and organ for church services since she was in 8th grade, playing countless weddings and funerals. She especially loved playing at the Black Earth nursing home each week.

She is survived by her daughter Jacquelyn J. O'Connell, her son Daniel J. O'Connell (Debbie), her daughter Katherine A. Banfi (Wally); three grandchildren Amy A. Wildman (Matt), Corey O'Connell , Jamie K. O'Connell (Tim Hewitt). Two great grandchildren Austin and Kenlee. Her brothers Don Reeve (Janet) and Larry Reeve (Bob Andersen), and sister Judy Engle (Denny) and many nieces and nephews .

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joe, infant brother Dale, brother Ralph Reeve, sister-in-law Ruth Ann Reeve, sister Phyllis Larson, brother-in-law Steve Larson, niece Sherry Larson and great-nephew Christopher Reeve.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tues. Feb. 6, 2018 at New Heights Lutheran Church, 1705 Center St., Black Earth with Pastor Rob Nelson officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Mon., Feb. 5, 2018 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Hwy 14 West, Mazomanie and from 10am until the time of service on Tues. Feb. 6th at the church. Burial will be held in the St. Barnabas Cemetery.
