Lorin "Buddy" Elias Sprecher, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 5, 2009, at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born on November 7, 1922 in Witwen, the son of the late Wesley and Ellen (Witwen) Sprecher. Buddy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's several years ago. In the past months he developed other physical conditions, about which he never complained and endured with grace until the end. Buddy always had a gentle spirit which remained throughout his days of suffering. Buddy's father passed away when he was only 12 years old, so at a young age he learned to work on the family farm and take responsibility. He graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1940. He then went on to Ag Short Course, then returned home to farm with his brother. Buddy married the love of his life, Vera Frederickson, on August 15, 1959, at Christ Lutheran Church in Spring Green. We rejoice in God's goodness of celebrating 50 years of marriage this past August. Music was an important part of Buddy's life, and brought much joy and comfort even in the final stages of his life. He sang in the church choir for over 60 years, and in the Sauk County Male Chorus. He is survived by his loving wife, Vera of Prairie du Sac; four children, Jeffrey (Terri) of Guatemala, Jeannine (Greg) DiMiceli of Middleton, James (Dawn) of Sauk City, and Jill (Brent) Schneider of Prairie du Sac; ten grandchildren, Katelyn and Amy Sprecher; Daniel, Matthew, and Sarah DiMiceli; Austin, Marissa, and Grace Sprecher; and Abby and Hannah Schneider; a sister, Betty (Harlan) Feigl; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Merlin; and a sister, Marie Zech. Funeral services will be held at SAUK PRAIRIE EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 1375 Lincoln Ave., Prairie du Sac, at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009, with Pastor Roy Anderson and Pastor Dwight Pulsfus officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Black Hawk Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Mission Impact for a school building project in Guatemala. Mission Impact was founded by Buddy's son Jeff. The family wishes to thank Doctors Joe Spurgeon and Tim Bartholow for their loving care. Also a termendous thanks to the staff at Maplewood for all their special care to Buddy.
