Louis "Louie" Eveland, age 85, of Mazomanie passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and close friends on Friday, September 16, 2011. Louie was born in Barneveld on December 16, 1925, the son of the late James Sr. and Lillian (Schutz) Eveland. He was united in marriage to Sylvia Duerst in January 1958. Louie worked for the State of Wisconsin for many years and upon retiring ,then went to work for the Village of Mazomanie for close to 30 years. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Louie will be remembered for his love of family and friends, playing cards, his passion for old cars and trucks, and sharing stories of the past.
Louie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sylvia; three children, Cyndie Wirts of Mazomanie, Darcy Warner of Mazomanie and Lester (Rocio) Eveland of Middleton; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; his beloved cat, Lydia; and former son-in-law, Dave Warner. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son; two brothers, James and John; and a twin-sister, Lucy Wirth.
A funeral service will be held at MIDLAND UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 10235 CTH KP, Mazomanie, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, with Pastor Dianne Vielhuber officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20 at the church and also on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery in Brigham Township.
