IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise M
Eckstein
February 23, 1938 – April 18, 2024
Louise M Eckstein of Sauk City, age 86 passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024 after a brief stay at Janesville's Agrace Hospice. She was born on February 23, 1938, the daughter of the late Reynold "Brownie" and Viola (Blum) Breunig. Louise had many fond memories of growing up with her siblings in the Dorf Haus and helping with the family business. They worked hard, but always had time to dance and roller-skate in the dance hall. She graduated from the Sauk City High School in 1956. For the past year, she went back to "high school" and lived in an apartment that was her former typing class. She enjoyed living independently in the sunny Madison Street School apartments.
She met her husband, Jerry Eckstein while passing under the limbo pole on a New Year's Eve at the Penguin Bar and were united in marriage shortly after. Together, they raised their four daughters in the Sauk Prairie community. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at a variety of local businesses. Louise enjoyed spending time with her daughters, playing cards with family and friends, baking for grandchildren, and bowling with her friends.
She is survived by four daughters, Darla Calenzo, Linda Brager, Dawn (David) Klepper, Kim (Rick) Kerska and her loving grandchildren Sam, Dan, Ben, Jeremy, Michael, Katelyn, Nikki, Rachael, Jerry, Garrett, Devin, and Tristan. She also had 10 great grandchildren with number 11 "baby Davey" on the way. She is also survived by brothers Leon & Butch Breunig and sisters Diane (Gene) Zander & Judy (Stan) Rauls, brother-in-law Donnie Dahmen and many nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband Jerry, her beautiful granddaughter Sarah and siblings Geraldine Dahmen, Earl & Virginia Breunig & Karen (Leon) Breunig.
The family would like to thank the Agrace team for their loving and thoughtful care, especially her nurse Kevin and the teams at the Janesville and Fitchburg facilities.
A private family service will be held in her honor.
