IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Luke A.
Liegel
October 12, 1923 – February 24, 2019
Luke A. Liegel, age 95, passed away peacefully at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City on Feb. 24, 2019. He was born in the Town of Franklin, Plain, WI. on October 12, 1923 to Herman and Victoria (Brickl) Liegel. Luke was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Dischler on Nov. 11, 1947 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain. Luke served in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the Plain American Legion Post 398. He worked at Fish Building Supply in Middleton for 30 years. He often would give other friends and residents of Sauk Prairie rides to Middleton on his way to work, and was fortunate to never have an accident in the 30 years he commuted. Luke enjoyed fixing things, working with wood and competed many carpentry projects. Aside from working as a carpenter and at Fish Building Supply he farmed for many years too. He always looked to strike a good deal as he frequented auctions and garage sales.
Luke is survived by his three sons, Leon (Catherine) of Tuscon, AZ., Gary (Nancy) and Dean (Sharon) both of Prairie du Sac; 4 grandchildren, Lea (Darean) Domes, Lora (Michelle) Liegel, Jeremy (Katie) Liegel, and Matthew Liegel; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Rose Fingerhut; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Luke was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; five brothers, Reinold, Joseph, Herman, Alois, and Mike; and one sister, Marie.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Luke's family wishes to thank the entire nursing staff at Maplewood Nursing Home for their wonderful care.
