Lydia L. Luck, 88, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at HospiceCare, Madison. She was born May 26, 1921 in the town of Prairie du Sac, the daughter of the late Herman and Lillia (Hatz) Wilhelm. She graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1939 and then worked as a switchboard operator for General Telephone Co. in Sauk City. She was united in marriage to Elmer Luck on November 18, 1941 and the couple farmed for many years in the town of Prairie du Sac. They later built a home on the land where she was born. Lydia enjoyed gardening, flowers, mowing her lawn, baking, (especially pies) and traveling with her husband. She was a former member of the Honey Creek United Methodist Church and was active in many activities. She was baptized, confirmed, married and will be laid to rest there.
Survivors include a son, Mike; two grandsons, Craig and Corey, whom she helped raise; a grandson, Bret; great grandchildren, Logan, Taylor, Dylan and Isabella; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Wilhelm, Elaine Alwin, Jeanette Schulenberg and Gloria Ryan; a brother-in-law, Ralph Luck; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special people in her life include Tina Luck and grandchildren, Logan, Dylan and Taylor, who lived with and helped care for her; Patti and Bret Luck; her son-in-law, Don Wenner of New Jersey; a special niece, Ruth Ann Keller and nephew, Cal Wilhelm, and families, She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Elmer in 2005; her daughter, Lori in 1997; and all of her siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7 at the HONEY CREEK CHURCH, Highway PF, Prairie du Sac, with the Rev. Kendall Schlittler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City.
