Obituary

Lyle W. Sprecher, age 93, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born August 19, 1917 in Troy Township, the son of the late Elias and Ellen (Gasser) Sprecher. He was married to Evelyn Kindschi on December 24, 1943. Lyle worked as a mechanic for several area auto dealers and retired from Tarnutzer's Dodge. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Sauk Prairie Masonic Lodge where he served as past master and was secretary/treasurer for over 40 years. He was a past president of the Sauk Prairie Police Commission and a past member of the Prairie du Sac Fire Department. Lyle was also very active with the Boy Scouts and served as a district leader and received the Silver Beaver Award.


Survivors include two children, Cheryl (John) Frey and Steve (Cheryl) Sprecher, both of Sauk City; four grandchildren, Carrie (Jon) Ballweg, Amy (Tony) Bauernhuber, JoAnnah (Todd) Sorg and Mitchell Sprecher; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Aaron and Andrew Ballweg, and Lexy and Lance Bauernhuber; three brothers, Halsey (Lyla) Sprecher of Prairie du Sac, Vilas (Nancy) Sprecher of North Freedom and Keith Sprecher of Madison; two sisters, Marion (Ed) Yngsdal of Fond du Lac and Ruby (Neil) Alwin of Dane; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Evelyn; a brother Les; a sister Elizabeth Savides; and a good friend, Helen Stieve.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, Prairie du Sac, with Pastor Fred Rilling officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7pm on Monday, October 25, 2010 at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, where a masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
