Mabel Susan Kuhnau, age 96, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City. She was born February 1, 1915 to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Burga) Paepke. She married Alfred C. Kuhnau on November 20, 1937. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1991. Mabel and Alfred farmed on the Cassel Prairie since 1940. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and the many day trips she and Alfred took. Mabel was a member of First United Church of Christ in Sauk City.
She is survived by her two sons, Lyle (Dorothy) of Sauk City, and Dwane of Prairie du Sac; six grandchildren, Randy (Barbara), Dale, Brian (Amy), Angela (Ross) Mack, Betsy, and Matthew (Jessica); ten great-grandchildren; and a former daughter in-law, Carol Kuhnau.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Robby, Albert, Ella Pritchard, and Viola Korb.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 11:00 am at the First United Church of Christ, Sauk City, with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in the Sauk City Cemetery.
