Marcus H. Marx, age 88, passed away peacefully at Sienna Crest in Waunakee on Apr. 19, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born at home in Roxbury on Jan. 2, 1930 to the late Werner and Alvina (Breunig) Marx. Marcus was united in marriage to Doris C. Rauls on June 29, 1954; she preceded him in death on July 11, 2009. Together they farmed in Roxbury on the Marx homestead where Marcus has lived since 1936. He enjoyed traveling and his Sunday afternoon drives. Marcus was proud of his German Heritage and his Catholic Faith; he was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lodi.
He is survived by his eight children, Donna (Ed) Ziegler, Phil (Holly) Marx, Lois Marx, Janet (Scott) Tiedeman, Yvonne (Paul) Edmunds, David (Mary Ann) Marx, Joe (Michelle) Marx, and John (Susan)Marx; 23 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Virginia Bongard, Mary Walsh, and Jean (Tom) Walsh; sister in-law, Bernice Marx; numerous other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Doris; he was preceded in death by his siblings, Vincent Marx, Florence (John) Rupel, Helen (Bud) Neumaier, Bernadine (David) Treinen, Eileen Exterovich, and an infant sister, Elizabeth; brother in-laws, Pat Walsh, and Charles Bongard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Apr. 26, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 521 Fair St., Lodi. Interment will follow in the St. Norbert's Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Apr. 25, 2018 at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City. Visitation will continue the morning of mass one hour prior to the service at church.
Marcus' family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the entire staff and especially Katie Olivares at Sienna Crest in Waunakee for their wonderful and dignified care.
