Obituary

Marga M. Petzke, age 66, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was a beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in Germany to Adolf and Lotte Huelsemann on April 9, 1943 and traveled to the United States with her family when she was 10 years old. She was naturalized to become a US citizen. She married Leon Petzke in Leland, WI on July 31, 1965. She gave birth to their son Ricky on October 6, 1966. They lived in Denzer for a short time. They built a home in Black Earth and lived there for eleven years. During that time, she gave birth to their daughter, Erika on July 26, 1971. In 1977, they settled into their home in DeForest. She worked at The Wisconsin Cheeseman while their children were younger and worked at WPS Insurance for the past 20 years. She retired last year and was looking forward to traveling with her husband. She was a faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Family was very important to her. She was a fun-loving and happy person who made everyone feel welcome around her. She loved gardening, having picnics, taking long walks and enjoying nature. She enjoyed tending to and nurturing her flowers, fruit and vegetable gardens and enjoyed making crafts for family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, antique shops, craft shows, live theater and stage shows. She had a love of learning new things, reading, music and movies. She was an excellent cook and loved baking.

She is survived by her husband, Leon Petzke; a son, Ricky Petzke; a daughter, Erika (Mike) Holloway; a grandson, Kurt Holloway; her mother, Lotte Huelsemann; two brothers, Erich (Debbie) Huelsemann and Willard (Charlotte) Huelsemann; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father.

A memorial service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010 with Pastor Bill White officiating. Burial will follow in the Denzer Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
