Margaret W. Basthemer, age 86, of Mazomanie passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born July 13, 1928 to the late Irwin and Adela (Schmitz) Beuthin. She married Frank W. Basthemer on Feb. 10, 1948; he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2006. Margaret enjoyed being a homemaker and farmwife. She especially enjoyed entertaining and cooking for her family on the holidays and special occasions. Margaret enjoyed bowling and playing cards, and loved dancing in her younger years. Prior to her retirement she farmed with her husband in the Mazomanie Township and worked at the Waunakee Canning Company.
Margaret is survived by her 4 daughters, Betty (Joe) Dischler, Arleen (Warren) Loofboro, Ruth Kaufman, Donna (Frank) Holzman; a brother, Marvin (Gloria) Beuthin; 7 grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Sauer, Mike Loofboro, Tina (Paul Carncross) Kaufman, Holly (Joel) Walker, Kim (Lloyd) Voyles, Andy (Sheri) Holzman, Anita (Joe) Hanger; 10 great grandchildren; a sister in-law, Delores (Selmer) Christiansen; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband Frank, she was preceded in death by a son, David; son in-law Tom Kaufman; brother, Raphael Beuthin; and brother in-law, Norman (Gwen) Basthemer.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at New Heights Lutheran Church, 1705 Center Street, Black Earth with Pastor Rob Nelson officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Mazomanie Cemetery.
