Maria Braun, age 95, passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2024 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City.  She was born in Yugoslavia on Jan. 23, 1928 to the late Josef and Rosalia (Schmidt) Lang. She was united in marriage to Leopold Braun in 1947.

The Brauns moved to the US soon after where Maria lovingly raised her children. She enjoyed working in her garden, reading and music, crafts and painting. She had a big heart and a beautiful smile. She was a private and quiet person but could be very witty and fun!

Maria is survived by her children; Rudy (Ani), Theresa (the late Dietmar) Janssen and Leo (Jennifer) Braun with whom she made her home for the last several years; grandchildren, Monica, Adam, Andre, Elizabeth and great grandchildren, Ava and Nicky; her brother, Jakob Lang, his wife Alees and their children in Germany.

Maria's family is profoundly saddened by her death and will miss her. They would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Maplewood Nursing Home for their excellent care of Maria and making her stay with them safe and enjoyable.

A private family service will be held with interment in the Sauk City Cemetery.
