Maria Lee George, age 72, passed away at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo on Sunday, April 27, 2025 with her daughter by her side.  She was born July 4, 1952 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo to Lina Marini.  She attended Sauk Prairie High School; graduating in 1970.  She spent many years caring for others as a CNA at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove and at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City and the Pines Assisted Living in Prairie du Sac.  She also worked as a seamstress at O'Brien Brothers in Richland Center, as a Purchasing Agent for Milwaukee Valve in Prairie du Sac and as a housekeeper for many.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Heather George, grandcat Marshmallow; sisters, Pamela (Charlie) Wilhelm and Carla (Don Jones) Alt; and her brother, Mark Whitt.  She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by mother Lina Marini, a brother, Marty Whitt and her former husband and father of her daughter, David George.

Maria's family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers at St. Clare Hospital and SSM Hospice and to the staff at St. Clare Infusion Center, Dr. Lisa LePeak and Dr. Maribeth Baker for their care of Maria.

A celebration of life will be held for Maria on June 22, 2025 at Junge Park, 1535 Hemlock St., Sauk City, Wi from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Memorials may be sent to:  Heather George  S7559 US Hwy 12, Lot R10 North Freedom, WI 53951.
