Marian Theresa Riek, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Greenway Manor in Spring Green. On October 4, 1922, Marian was born in the Township of Franklin in the home of the late Arthur and Anastasia (Brickl) Brey. Marian married Julius J. Riek on October 4, 1943, he preceded her in death on February 28, 1996. She had a special heart for the needy, and volunteered for many years at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. Marian found joy in gardening, clipping articles out of newspapers, watching her favorite TV show EWTN, and spending time with her children, grandchildren (the twinkle in her eyes), and great grandchildren. She was a past active member of St. Luke's Parish where she spent many years volunteering; and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City.

Marian is survived by her children; James (Patricia) Riek of Lancaster, Judy (Truman) Felix of Stanley, Dennis (Peggy) Riek of Watertown, David (Pamela Chehade) Riek of Spring Green, Phyllis (Rick) Hofer of Washington, IA., Thomas (Merry Lynn) Riek of Plain, and Robert (Paula) Riek of Fairbury, Ill., sixteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, son in-law Adrian King, a grandson Dennis King, a sister Anastasia Womack, and two brothers, Herman and John Brey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Plain. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church starting at 9:00 am until time of service.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Greenway Manor for the loving care Marian received.

Memorials may be made in Marian's name to either St. Luke's Catholic Church or St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
