Obituary

Marion Christie (Quam) Koehl, age 92, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born at home in rural Dane County on Sept. 27, 1922 to the late Perry Olaf and Esther B. (Morter) Quam. Marion attended Okee Elementary School and later lived with her uncle and aunt, Emil and Esther Morter, in Prairie du Sac while attending high school, graduating in 1940. She attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison and completed her training in Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During WWII Marion worked as a medical technologist in Seattle, WA. Upon returning to Wisconsin she began work at the Dean Clinic on Carroll Street in Madison with Drs. Joe and Frank Dean. She married Francis Norbert Koehl on November 10, 1947 in Sauk City. Marion worked for Dr. Trautman in Prairie du Sac and later joined Dr. Zauft and Dr. Bishop at the Prairie Clinic where she worked until her retirement. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and enjoyed antiques, but most important was her dedication to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Francis; 4 children, Mary Koehl of Evansville, Robert (Luann Endres) Koehl of Prairie du Sac, Betty (Robert Dreps) Koehl of Springfield Township, and Kathy Koehl of Baraboo; 7 grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathan (Renee) Emery, Kristine and Anna Koehl, Katie and Abby Dreps, and Hannah Kit (Erik) Braegelmann; 1 great grandchild, Liam Emery; a sister Audrey (Dick) McIntyre of Lodi; a sister in-law, Mercedes Gladbach and brother in-law, Gene (Margaret) Koehl both of Missouri.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 siblings, Ardyce Adams, Vernon Quam, Kathryn Larsen, Virgil Quam, and Judith Quam.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City with Pastor Dwight Pulsfus officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015 and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Marion's name to the Good Neighbor Clinic of Prairie du Sac.

Marion's family is grateful for all the love and support they have received from Agrace Hospice and Nurse Kevin, Dr. Steven Johnson, Jeffrey Thompson, their neighbors, and especially longtime neighbor and close friend, Liz Bongard.
