Mark Alan Laufenberg left this world surrounded by his feline family, Orpheus, Rennie, George Clooney and newly acquired kitten Eddie on May 23, 2025, at his home in Clermont, Florida. The son of Milt and Betty Laufenberg was born in Prairie du Sac, Wi on May 17, 1962. He attended Sauk Prairie High school. In 1979 Mark enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a corpsman until he was honorably discharged in October of 2000.

He then began his career at the VA Hospital in Tampa, Florida, retiring in the Fall of 2022.   Mark lived a simple life full of friends, cooking, and his cats, until he met the love of his life, David Mitchell. They married on October 18, 2013, in Washington D.C. David and Mark shared a love of animals, relaxing by the pool, traveling, and their annual membership to Disney Worlds' many offerings. Their travels included many cruises. Most memorable were those taken with David's family from Kentucky and their good friends Robin and Ted Henn from Sauk Prairie. Mark and David were a fun- loving couple. They were generous with family, friends and those in the hospitality industry. Both experienced health issues and handled them as a team. On January 19, 2024, Mark lost his beloved husband to a heart attack. Marks's world was shocked to the core. 16 months later Mark succumbed to cardiac arrest.

Mark is deeply missed by his survivors, his brother Jon and family Cheri and Ben, cousins, and his dear lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Milt and Betty, his brothers Mike and Jeff, aunts and uncles, David's mother, Virginia and family.

Mark is laid to rest next to his husband David in the Prairie Du Sac Cemetery with his parents and brothers.
