Obituary

Marvin Clay Henderson, age 67, died on March 21, 2018, at his home in Madison, following a lingering illness.  He was born in Chicago on August 15, 1950, to Lawrence and Audrey (Shelton) Henderson.  On May 31, 1980, he was united in marriage to Michele Taylor, in Milwaukee.
Marvin had an admirable work ethic and spent decades working in a supervisory capacity at Loyola Marymount University(L.A); Cal-State/Northridge; USC; UCLA; the City of Madison; and most recently, at Dean/SSM Health, until his retirement. Before settling into the duties of raising family, he had been a road-musician, traveling the country with his R&B bands, as a singer/horn-player.
Marv had an ability to look past outward appearances of people, and to instead value inner dignity.  His compassion and generosity towards the handicapped, homeless, and downtrodden challenged those who observed his actions, to be better persons themselves.  Marvin enriched the world by his presence, asking nothing for himself, and giving much of himself.  He spent his life dedicated to providing for his family, whom he felt were his crowning achievements, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.  His absence will be profoundly felt in the hearts of those who love him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Michele; one daughter, Xaviera; five sons, Luke, Tyrone, Quincy, Gabriel, Raphael; one granddaughter, Brenna; two sisters, Lois and Traci; three brothers, Lonnie, Stacy, and Corby; many dear nieces and nephews, family, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marie; and brother, Larry.

A Latin Requiem Mass will be held at 10:00A.M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. Norbert Catholic Church, 8944 Cty. Hwy Y, Roxbury, WI. The Rev. Jerry Zhanay will officiate.
