Obituary

Marvin E. Wallsch of rural Loganville, age 86, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wed. Oct. 30, 2024.  He was born in Baraboo on Oct. 16, 1938 to the late Ernest and Judith (Cowles) Wallsch.  At the age of 15 he moved in with Rodney and Becky Premo to be their hired hand; he attended High School in Prairie du Sac graduating in the class of 1956.  Following High School, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1956 serving in the 82nd Airborne Unit stationed in Ft. Liberty; he was honorably discharged in 1958.  Marvin was united in marriage to Cleo Rae M. Schoepp on June 13, 1961 at St. Norberts in Roxbury; they enjoyed their honeymoon in Niagara Falls.  Together they farmed in the Honey Creek and Franklin Townships where they raised their 7 children.

Marvin enjoyed cheering on the Packers, Badgers, Nascar and looked forward to Brewer and Mallard games as a family outing.  In his younger years he enjoyed water skiing, swimming at White Mound and loved to snowmobile.  Marvin and Cleo enjoyed monthly card club, Friday night fish frys, playing euchre with friends and classmates and traveling too; with trips to Hawaii, Alaska and frequent visits to Florida and North Carolina.  He was a member at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain.

He is survived by his wife, Cleo; children, Deb (Joe) Kunkel, Mary (Chester) Burckhardt, Sharon (Mike) Schoepp, Sandy (Sherman) Drury, Tom (Dallas Hanvey) Wallsch, Susie (Dan) Frey; 6 grandchildren, Nicole (Buck) Teeter, Andrew and Molly Schoepp, Maya and Derek Frey, Claire Drury; 3 step grandchildren, Cari Schoemann, Clint (Krista) and Cody (Candance) Burchardt; 3 step great grandchildren, Ben Schoemann and Elliot and Callum Burckhardt; siblings, Joyce Knuth, Dianne Wagner, Carol (Don) Mertens, Steve (Sue) Wallsch, Gary (Rhonda) Wallsch, Pam (Wayne) Petersen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David; brother in-law Vern Knuth and nephew Kevin Knuth; and another set of parents Rod and Becky Premo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Nov. 5th at St. Luke's Catholic Church 1240 Nachreiner Ave., Plain.  A visitation will be held the evening before on Monday, Nov. 4 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City and also the morning of mass one hour prior at the church.  Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery.
