Obituary

Mary Monica Breunig, age 98, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the Pines Assisted Living in Prairie du Sac.  She was born in Plain on May 4, 1924 to the late William and Anna (Alt) Grauvogl.  She was united in marriage to Wilfred "Willie" Breunig on Oct. 23, 1945; he preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 2006.  Mary started her working career at Sonora Radio in Chicago during the mid 1940's and after raising her children she worked at Marie's Dress Shop, Riverside Fashions, and Carr Valley Cheese until she was 89 years young.  She was fortunate enough to remain at her home on Madison St., in Sauk City for 68 years before she moved to the Pines in Prairie du Sac.  Mary was known as "Cookie Grandma", she loved to bake and made wonderful cookies.  She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and a member of the Parish C.C.W.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Joan), Roger (Carla), Steve (Dorothy),  Patricia (Jim) Rasque-Larsh, Debra (David) Lundgren; grandchildren, Jason and Joshua (Christi) Breunig, Angela (Vince) Cameranesi, Aaron (Dana) Breunig, Emily (David) Hoover, Michael (Mary), Daniel (Tori), Mark (Megan Haas) Breunig, James (Krista) and Mitchell (Melissa) Rasque, Mary (Jeff) Bye, Michelle (Dave) Kyhn, Patrick (Priscilla) and Jon Lundgren; 18 great grandchildren; brother in-law, James (Barb) Masak and sister in-law, Fidalia "Dale" Breunig.  Mary is further survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Willie; she was preceded in death by a son in-law, Rodney Rasque and her siblings, Helen (Edgar) Klingbeil, Edna (Bob) Flemming, Matilda "Tillie" (Paul) Breunig, Lawrence (Helen) Grauvogl, Frederick "Fritz" (Iris) Grauvogl, and Paul Grauvogl.

Mary's family would like to thank the Pines and Pines Assisted Living Staff and Agrace Hospice for their loving care and a special thank you to the Priests from Divine Mercy Parish for their frequent visits and spiritual support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thurs., July 28, 2022 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison St., Sauk City with Fr. Miguel Galvez celebrating. Livestream link https://youtu.be/aRTSd1XpWtc

A Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 pm and a visitation will follow on Wed. July 27, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City and from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at the funeral home the morning of mass.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to St. Aloysius School tuition fund or to 6:8 Making Service Personal.
