Mary Jane Dischler

Mary Jane Dischler, age 95, passed away May 16, 2026 at Maplewood. She was born on October 18, 1930, the daughter of Conrad Sr. and Mary (Busch-Wachter) Pulvermacher. Mary Jane grew up on a farm, doing work with her mother, she frequently babysat her young nephews, Cliff, Duane and Melvin Ballweg. Mary Jane was a 1949 graduate of Sauk City High School. She rode a bus to Madison to work ‘at St. Mary's Hospital in the surgical department. She met her new lifetime friend there, Joanie Zweifel and Elaine Breunig.

She was united in marriage to Simon J. Dischler of Plain, Wisconsin on June 22, 1950. They met at a wedding dance in Lodi, Wisconsin, then began farming in 1951, on a 210 - acre dairy farm in Sumpter Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, playing euchre, word search puzzles, snowmobiling, ATV riding and watching the Green Bay Packers on TV. She learned cake decorating at MATC, baking hundreds of wedding cakes. 

Mary Jane was a member of St. Aloysius Parish, the Sauk County Homemakers, a local quilting group, Prairie Busy Badgers 4-H club and two neighborhood euchre clubs. Mary Jane was elected Sumpter Township Clerk for many years. Simon and she traveled on bus tours, with friends (Zweifel's, Breunig's and Markley's). A highlight was their Hawaii trip in 1975 for their 25th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her children, Lucille (Ted Danube), Keith (Jane Martin), Beverly Jim Sparrgrove) Simonds, grandchildren, Michelle (Brett Bergen) Dischler, Cinnamon (Matthew Zawadzki) Danube, Shana (Billy) Hirchert, Timothy Dischler, and great grandchildren Aksel and Amelia Hirchert.

Preceded in death by her parents, siblings and their spouses; Harold (Ruth Lockman), Gertrude (Melchoir Ballweg), Helen (Louis Ballweg), Paul (Ruth Breunig), Conrad Jr. (Pat Alt), her husband's eleven siblings and their spouses, her daughters Sandra and Pamela and a son-in-law, Donald Simonds.

In lieu of flowers or plants, please consider a donation to the St. Aloysius church in Sauk City, or a charity that you support. 

The family would like to thank friends, helping to keep her independent on the farm, especially Larry and Anita Luck, Jim Kaiser, Ethyl Leidig, Betty Wheeler, Rhoda Barden, Barb Halverson, Steve DeMars and Cindy Lehman, Rick Accola, Justin and Owen Frosch. Further, for their care the past few weeks: ‘Sauk Prairie Hospital, Maplewood, St. Croix Hospice, BrightStar, and caregiver Margaret Taylor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, May 22, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City, WI. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:15 at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water Street Sauk City, WI 53583 prior to the Mass.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
