Mary Ellen Griffin, age 86, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at St. Mary's Care Center. She was born in Mazomanie on November 22, 1925, the daughter of the late Carroll and Alice (Murphy) King. Mary was a graduate of Mazomanie High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to James "Doc" Griffin on August 10, 1946. She was employed at General Telephone as a supervisor and maintained a friendship with her co-workers throughout the years. She and Doc enjoyed traveling throughout the states by motorcycle and spent many winters in Arizona. Mary was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Madison and formerly a member at St. Barnabas in Mazomanie.
Survivors include a brother, Jim (Ivy) King of Brownsburg, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Rosalie King of Madison; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Joan King, Pat Morrow and Kay Fell; and
three brothers, Jack, Gerald and Joseph King.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, Mazomanie, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 with Fr. Johnson Nellisari officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Hooverson Funeral Home, Highway 14 West, Mazomanie. Burial will follow in St. Barnabas Cemetery.
