Mary H. Handel, age 86, died on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 21, 1925 in Centerville, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Nathan and Elizabeth (Lewis) Smith. She was united in marriage to Louis Handel on September 15, 1945 at the Middleton Lutheran Church. Mary enjoyed traveling, camping, scrapbooking, bowling and her collecting hobby. She was a member of Midland United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Louie; three sons, Richard, William and David (Karen); 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Geraldine Eveland; daughter-in-law, Karen Handel; two sisters, Norma and Elizabeth; and four brothers, Leroy, George, Charles and James.
A funeral service will be held at MIDLAND UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 10235 CTH KP, Mazomanie, at 11:00 on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 with Pastor Dianne Vielhuber officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Black Earth. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 702 Emily Rd., Mazomanie from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13 and also at the church on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
