Mary Jane Krueger, age 67, passed away peacefully at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City on Saturday, December 13, 2008, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on August 15, 1941, the daughter of Gaige and Zona (Leykauf) Dickerson. She attended Sauk City Elementary and High School, graduating in 1959. Mary then went on to Beauty School in Madison to become a beautician, working at Rundell's Beauty Salon in Madison for many years before owning and operating her own salon, Mari Jayne's, in Madison. She was in the hair styling business for 40 years. She married Jerry Krueger of Madison in 1961, but later, went their separate ways. She enjoyed keeping in touch with some of her classmates, coming out to Sauk City for the holidays and family get-togethers, and planting flowers. She later met a dear friend, Jack Seger of Cambridge. Together they went on many wonderful trips. After retiring from the hairdressing business Mary worked part-time at the Cambridge Piggly Wiggly until her paralysis in May 2003. Jack's daily visits to the nursing home gave her much happiness. She is survived by her mother, Zona Dickerson, a sister, Peggy (Tom) Alt; 3 brothers, Walter, David, and Gary (Lori) Dickerson, all of Sauk City; nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, Jeff Alt of Milwaukee, Scott (Shawna) Alt, Jennifer (Dennis) Frey and Stacy (Troy) Breunig, all of Sauk City; her dear friend, Jack Seger; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gaige Dickerson; sister, Carol Ann Dickerson; and brother, Terry Dickerson. A funeral service will be held at FIRST UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Sauk City at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Burial will be in the Sauk City Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008. "Mary, May it never rain on your parade."
