Mary Alice Lucey, loving daughter, cousin, godmother, friend, and teacher, passed on to the Irish skies at Kirkland Crossings Arbor Memory Care, on October 26, 2021.  She was born January 13, 1951 to Chuck and Catherine (Deneen), one of the Fabulous Four Deneen cousins born that year (Joan, Daryl, Tim). Mary graduated from Wisconsin Heights HS in 1969 and took her place as the third generation to graduate from UW-Whitewater with a degree in education.  For more than 30 years she molded young minds at Catholic Schools in Jefferson, Cross Plains and St. Gregory the Great in Milwaukee.

Few people on this planet are as sweet and nurturing as was Mary, and she is remembered dearly today by hundreds of grown-up first-graders.

Later in life, Mary enriched the lives and minds of seniors as a Supervisor for Lutheran Social Services in Waukesha, helping to develop "MINDWORKS" a program for people with dementia and Alzheimer's. Most recently Mary was a Rehabilitation Therapist for Community Care in the PACE program.

Mary was a lifelong fan of the Brewers and cherished her roots, travelling often to attend many First Communions, graduations, and birthday parties for her godchildren. She was a member of "InvestHers", a women's investment group and enjoyed learning about the stock market. She loved vacationing with Jean, Lynn, and her other Lucey and Deneen cousins. Some of the trips Mary recalled fondly in her latest months were to Door County in the '80s; Ireland with her Mom and aunts; France, following the WW2 path of her uncle Jerome Deneen; and cruises to Hawaii and Alaska, captained by her college roommate, Connie, who is more like a loving sister.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and her infant brother, Lawrence David. She will be dearly missed by her loving family, her beloved dog Max, and all of her friends and students who considered her family.

Visitation will be held at 5:00pm with a memorial service immediately following at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 4 ^th , at Hooverson Funeral Home, 702 Emily Road, Mazomanie, WI.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 9329 Chicago Road, Oak Creek, WI. Tributes in Mary's name can be donated to https://act.alz.org/donate
