IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary J.
Moseman
March 18, 1948 – July 9, 2022
Mary Jean Speth Moseman, age 74, unexpectedly passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison on Saturday, July 9, 2022. She was born March 18, 1948 to Leonard and Roseline (Koch) Speth.
Mary grew up in Prairie du Sac, with her parents and siblings, Christine and Chuck. She attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1966. Not surprising to anyone, she was the very first Ms. Sauk Prairie. Mary went on to college at UW LaCrosse. She worked at Badger Army Ammunition for several years, as a partner at Bob's Outlet, followed by Ballweg Uselman Furniture Store and Town and Country Chrysler before becoming the owner and operator of the Decor and More business in Prairie du Sac for many years. She retired after working for Slumberland Furniture Store in 2018. She and John Mowitz continued to operate their custom framing business.
Mary had such grace and talent with all things having to do with style and decorating. Her ability to look at a print and then design every single other aspect around it made everyone immediately say "yes, that's exactly what I didn't even know I wanted." She was also quite an accomplished seamstress. She traveled to so many places around the world with friends and family, loved boating, Badger games, Friday fish fries, and finding good recipes. Mary was the most gracious hostess and loved entertaining for any time, day, person, reason, or event, and she was one of the most giving, gracious, and kind people we were fortunate to have in our lives. In addition to all the special qualities we have not mentioned here, Mary was stylish, classy and would do anything for those she loved. Mary will be always in our thoughts and forever in our hearts.
Mary was blessed with many special people in her life. She leaves behind her love John Mowitz; her son, Wade (Casey) Moseman; her stepdaughter, Amy (Christian) Griffin; her stepson, David Mowitz; her step grandchildren, Mollie and Max; her sister, Christine Speth Parchem; her brother, Chuck Speth; her niece and nephews, great-niece and nephews; and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roseline and Leonard Speth, her stepmother, Shirley Speth, and Wade's father, Morey Moseman.
The family would like to thank St. Mary's Hospital for the care they provided Mary.
A public service mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo, WI at 11am on Wednesday, July 20th. Following that there will be a public celebration of life luncheon held at the Dorf Haus in Roxbury, WI starting at 12:30PM
In lieu of flowers or memorial gifts, please consider a donation to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo, your local food bank, or please do something kind for someone else you may or may not know. Mary cared deeply for her friends, family and community and would be honored to leave a legacy of giving back to others.
