Obituary

Mary Susan Myers, 50, of Sauk City, Wis., passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on the evening of Feb. 15, 2018, after a hard-fought battle against metastatic melanoma. She was born on June 13, 1967, in Marinette, to Richard and Diane (Bergstrom) Hanson. Mary grew up in Marinette and graduated from Marinette High School in 1985. She and her family settled in the Madison area in 1994. She ran an in-home daycare for several years and then worked in accounting for over 20 years, gaining admiration and respect as a valuable employee and making many friends along the way. As a mother, Mary was very involved in her children's activities, and her home was a popular after-school stop for neighborhood kids. Over the years, she was a member of a few area bowling teams and enjoyed outdoor activities such as bicycling and hiking. She especially enjoyed visiting Devil's Lake State Park, Festge Park, Parfrey's Glen. Mary was also an avid animal lover and supported various charitable causes.

Mary is survived by her parents; her husband, Edward Myers of Sauk City; her two sons, Ian (Elysa) Hellermann of Heber City, Utah, and Jacob Hellermann of Madison, Wis; three stepchildren, Haley, Hannah, and Jonathan Myers; and her brother, Peter Hanson. Mary was preceded in death by two of her brothers, Joseph and Daniel Hanson.

A funeral service will be held at LIFE CHURCH, 2770 Brandywein Trail, Mount Horeb, Wis., on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 2:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to join the family at The Grumpy Troll Brew Pub after the service for a celebration of Mary's life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's honor to the Polka Dot Mama Melanoma Foundation.
