Obituary

Mary Lou Roy(Nee Traut), age 81, peacefully entered into eternal life on December 24, 2015, reuniting in Heaven with her beloved husband, Lucien Roy, and her parents David and Helen Traut, as well as brothers Joe and George, just in time to celebrate Christmas with Jesus.

Mary Lou was born in 1934 in Rio, Wisconsin. She was the oldest girl of eight children and growing up she learned many traditional values of family, love, compassion, and serving God. She attended Rio High School and graduated in 1952. She enrolled in St. Mary's School of Nursing in Madison, and graduated in 1955. During this time she met the love of her life, Lucien Roy, and they became married in 1956. Together they raised a family of six children in Madison, and later moved to Adams-Friendship, until Lucien died in 1977 after a long battle with cancer. As a single mother, Mary Lou did whatever it took, working long hours, and extra shifts to care for her family and always found time for giving and caring for many others in a multitude of ways. She continued her career in nursing throughout her life, as well as being a devoted, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary at least daily for her many loved ones. She later settled in Loganville, WI amongst the bluffs and nature, where she lived out the last few years of her life.

Mary Lou was well known as an excellent and compassionate nurse for 55 years, working until she was 75 years old, when her body was no longer cooperating. She worked in many different facilities caring for some of God's sickest people in need, mostly in the Madison area, but also around Wisconsin. Her caring and loving ways touched the lives of many. Her last job was at the Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, and it was very fitting that at the end of her life it was Agrace Hospice who compassionately cared for her in her home, along with her family, especially Jim and Judy.

She is survived by her loving children Robert (Amy), Bill (Susan), Karen Jeszka (Michael), James, Judy, and Diane McDonald (Tim), and her cherished Grandchildren, Danielle, Adam, Bryan, Evan, Mary, Briana, Griff, and Logan. Also survived by her loving sisters Fran Guillet, Kathleen Diehlmann, and Therese Traut, and brothers, Jim, and Jerry. Sisters-in- law Marge, Rose, Diane, Jeanne, Dolly and brother in-law Joe Roy and many other treasured relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 4:00-7:00 pm with Rosary Service at 4:00, at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City, WI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 30, at 11:00 am, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison St., Sauk City, WI. A luncheon will take place following the Mass in the Parish School. All are welcome.
