Obituary

Mary A. Walsh, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21 at The Pines Assisted Living Center in Prairie Du Sac.  She was born on January 24, 1932, the daughter of Werner and Alvina (Breunig) Marx.  She attended grade school at St. Norberts in Roxbury and graduated from Sauk City High School.  She was united in marriage to Patrick Walsh on date August 17, 1951.

Mary was employed in a number of places, but finally by Springs Window Fashions as a Material Coordinator and she retired in 1997.  She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, singing, gardening, and time spent with her children and grandchildren.  She baked tons of bread and rolls and her pan-fried chicken was second to none.  She also had opportunities for travel through the Diocesan Choir for the Diocese of Madison.  She made several trips to Europe; the choir having the opportunity to sing for the Pope on one occasion.  The choir also sang for the Bishop of the Diocese multiple times.

Mary is survived by her five children, Maureen (Bill) Hoffmann of Brown Deer, Michael (Liane) Walsh of Prairie Du Sac, Aileen (David) Hruby of rural Sauk City, Jacqueline Warren of Portage, and Tina (David) Teeters of Machesney Park, Illinois.

She is also survived by sisters, Jean (Tom) Walsh of Fort Worth, Texas and Virginia (Charles) Bongard of Sauk City.  She had 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick, her parents, her brothers, Vincent and Marcus Marx, and her sisters, Helen (Aaron) Neumaier, Bernie (David) Treinen, Eileen (Jerry) Exterovich, and Florence (John) Rupel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, Nov 30,2023 at St. Aloysius Church, Sauk City, followed by a luncheon at the Dorf Haus Restaurant in Roxbury.

A visitation will be held from 4pm until 7pm on Wednesday, November 29 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, WI.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ralph Ringelstetter Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund sponsored by the Divine Mercy parish.
