Mary Frances Wipperfurth, age 86 of Merrimac, passed away December 18, 2023 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Bristol, Tennessee on July 9, 1937, the daughter of the late Charles Orville and Nell (Talley) Roberts.
Mary was (the first member of her family to graduate High School) a graduate of Bluff City High School in Bluff City, Tennessee. She was united in marriage to Charles R. Wipperfurth in 1957. She was a past VP of Sauk County Democratic Party in the 1960s and a retired Major in the Wisconsin Wing of Civil Air Patrol. Mary was employed by Industrial Coils in Baraboo for many years and later at Devils Lake State Park concessions. Mary was a Sunday School teacher for 28 years and a member of the church choir at Trinity Episcopal Church in Baraboo for 46 years and served on the Altar Guild. She was an avid reader and enjoyed daily diary writing.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, parents, Charles and Nell (Talley) Roberts and siblings: Evelyn (Donald) Henshaw, Esther (Robert) Leonard, Charlotte (Cecil) Carrier, Charles (Linda) Roberts Jr, Shirley Ann (Lee) Hamm, James (Becky) Roberts, and Harry Thomas Roberts.
She is survived by siblings: Joyce Marie (Paul) Stout, Roy (Sharon) Roberts, Larry (Lillian) Roberts, Roger (Jennifer) Roberts, two children: Charles R. Wipperfurth II and Kurt R. (Glenda) Wipperfurth DC, three grandchildren: Kurt R. (Alexandra Gibson) Wipperfurth II, Kura M. (Dylan Shoulders) Wipperfurth and Ken R. (Samantha) Wipperfurth, six great grandchildren: Indiana Wipperfurth, Richard (Trae) Smithson III, Zooey Wipperfurth, Ethan Wipperfurth, Oliver Wipperfurth and Samuel Wipperfurth.
Mary's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks special friend, Helen Faulkner, the staff of Maplewood, Kevin and caregivers from Agrace and Merrimac community members, including Torg Anderson, Leroy Blacklock, Joshua Krueger, Mike Rogers, Nate Taylor and Scott Thompson and the members of Trinity Episcopal Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on January 3,2024 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 111 6th Street, Baraboo, WI. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 am until the time of the service.
Burial will be in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.
