March 8, 1957 – July 6, 2025
Matilda R. Sorg, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 6, 2025. She was born in Tennessee on March 8, 1957 to the late Johnnie M. and Mary L. (Pitt) Ray. She attended and graduated Kingsbury, TN. High School; class of 1975. She met Phil Sorg who was enlisted in the Marines; they married Apr. 3, 1976. Shortly after they married, they returned to Blackhawk as Phil planned to work the family farm in the Troy Township.
Matilda worked as a CNA, at Milwaukee Valve, HoChunk Casino, and lastly at a daycare. She loved spending time with children, so she loved being a stay-at-home grandma to her 10 grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts, cross words, animals especially her cats, and always enjoyed her Mt. Dew and cigarettes. Matilda and Phil enjoyed their couple bowling league, attending fireworks and the yearly EEA Air Venture show.
Matilda is survived by her husband, Phil; children, Candy (Donny) Adams, Bobbi Jo (Nicholas) Hartley, Patrick (Brandy) Sorg, Mary (Jerome) Yauch; 10 grandchildren, Thaddeus, Jedidiah, Janessa, Garrick, Calvin, Wesley, Abigail, Nickolaus, Lillian, Chiana; her twin siblings, Johna (Frank) Tolbert and Johnnie (Teresa) Ray Jr. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip Sorg.
A celebration of Matilda's Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025 from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm at Bethlehem Blackhawk Church, S10174 County Rd., C, Sauk City.
