Obituary

Maxine A. (Mathewson) Cairns, age 90, passed away on Thursday,May23, 2013 at Greenway Manor in Spring Green. She was born in Mazomanie, January 8, 1923 to the late Clarence and Alice (Birch) Mathewson. She married Charles B. Cairns on September 8, 1945, he preceded her in death on May 16, 1998. Maxine was a graduate of the Mazomanie High School. She excelled in music and enjoyed playing the clarinet and piano and listening to Frank Sinatra. Maxine was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sauk City.

She is survived by a sister, Gladys Kennedy, West Allis; several nieces and nephews, Richard Kennedy, Beloit, Joseph F. (Dianne) Kennedy, Milwaukee, Leslie (Floyd) Tyson, Eaton, CO., Carolyn (Rob) Andringa, Mosinee, WI., Keith Hodgson, Neil Hodgson; and special nephew, Peter N. (JoAnne) Tollefson, DeForest; and special niece; Betty A. (Jury) Schlough, Mazomanie; sisters in-law, Alice Mathewson, (Mrs. C.H.), Prairie du Sac, and Marilyn Hodgson (Lowell), Annapolis, Maryland.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 4 siblings; Edith Leppla, Mildred H. Tollefson, Clarice Fleharty, Clarence H. Mathewson, and a nephew Mark Hodgson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Hooverson Funeral Home, Hwy 14 West, Mazomanie. Burial will follow in the Mazomanie Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
