Maynard C. Wood, age 76, died on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born in Menomonie on November 19, 1931, the son of the late Raymond and Ruth (Wade) Wood. He was united in marriage to Delores Werla on August 17, 1950. Maynard drove school bus for 17 years following retirement. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Delores; eight children, Monica (Robert) Ziegler, Michael (Jane), Mark (Susan), Myra (Douglas) Ballweg, Myron (Lynn), Mary (Scott) Cole, Maynard Jr. (Faye) and Martin (Kim); a step-sister, Judith Wenzel; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, a son, Mitchell; a brother, James; and two sisters, Jean Hilmanowski and Veronice Wolf. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 with Fr. Jared Hood officiating. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 12:00 pm until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery at a later date.
