Obituary

Melvin Arthur Zech passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, on June 10, 2021. Mel was born at the Sauk Prairie Hospital on October 3, 1956 to Arthur and Yvonne "Lou" (Giese). He attended Sunday School and was later confirmed into the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Denzer, WI. He was a life long member of the church in Denzer. Mel attended Tower Rock Elementary School and later graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1975. After high school, he attended UW-Madison and graduated with a degree in Agriculture with an emphasis on Meat & Animal Science. Mel wore many hats in his life as a farmer. He was a farmer, an advocate for farmers needing assistance and also worked with Vern Meinholz at Precision Consulting. He knew tons about the ins and outs of farming and was always happy sharing his knowledge with others.

Probably the best thing to happen to Mel in his life was meeting and marrying his best friend and loving wife, Joanne (Lund) Zech on November 25, 1994. A few years later, they were blessed two sons, Paul Ivan Zech and Alexander Arthur Zech. His family was his pride and joy and there was a sparkle in his eye when talking about them.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Joanne and his two sons, Alex and Paul, all of Witwen, WI. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothea Nietert and her two children Jennifer (Jason) Thom and Elizabeth Nietert, M.D. He is further survived by his brother-in-law, Bill Lund and his two children April (Matt) Zuberbier, and Kari (Bob) Campbell; sister-in-law, Lori (Alvin) Dillman and their two children Craig (Libby) Dillman and Cassandra Dillman and brother-in-law Bob (Kris) Lund and their two children, Ashley (Jesse) Renstrom and James Lund. And many great nieces and nephews.

He is further survived by friends too numerous to count but we would like to mention Paul and Julie Dietmann, Scott Enge, "Pete" Traschler and Terry Steuber. Living on a farm, many cats would come and go, but we're pretty sure his favorite was Larry.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Lou Zech, his in-laws Harvey and Joan Lund, a sister-in-law Heidi Lund,a nephew, Ryan Dillman, a special uncle, Herman Zech and those held a special place in his heart. Mel's heart was a big one!

We would especially like to than the UW Lung Transplant team and special "angel" who gave Mel the gift of life and 5 extra years of joy and happiness. We can't put into words the heartfelt gratitude for a grieving family who chose to donate so that our Mel could live. We don't think anyone can truly understand the wonder and awe of such a God given gift. It is humbling to say the least.

God speed Mel and know that the Lord holds all of us with eternal love in the palm of his hand.
