Obituary

Melvin E. Nolden, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed peacefully with family at his side on June 29, 2025 at age 84.  He was born to Henry and Marina (Ballweg) Nolden in the Town of West Point on October 9, 1940.

He attended St. Norbert's Catholic grade school and graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1958.  He was a 213 lb All Conference center on the football team.  He married the love of his life, Gloria Bindl on April 15, 1961.  He loved Gloria more than anything and was so proud of his family.  His passion for farming was only surpassed by his faith in God and love of family.  He passed on his hard work ethic, always demonstrated in the things he did.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law Frank & Marie Bindl; siblings David, Mary Ann Jacobi, Clifford, and unnamed infant; in-laws Harold Zander, Fred Bindl, Pam Bindl, Patti Nolden, Deanna Nolden and Lori Nolden; grandchildren James Nolden and Faith Endres; great grandchildren Ava and Allie Mahoney.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gloria; his siblings Roger, Don, Victor and Barb (Gary) Mock; in-laws Chuck Jacobi, Rita Zander, Dan Bindl, George (Stephanie) Bindl and Marian Bindl; children Donna (Doug) Nelson, Linda (Brian) Krentz, Ken (Tammi) Nolden, Diane (Les) Endres, Gary (Kimberley) Nolden, Chris (Tim) Francke, Nancy (Vladimir) Sisul, Teresa (Brett) Leeser, Joan O'Brion, and Karen (Curt) Bartnick.

He is also survived by grandchildren Brian (Miranda), Nicole, Kevin (Kia) and Jason; Jessica (Beau), Trisha (Seth), and Cody (Alex); Matt (Peggy); Claire (Will) and Shelbi; Tia (Nate), Melissa (Luke), Brendan (Emily), Grace (Ryan), and Jamie (Mason); Joseph (Michelle), Anna (Matt), and Michael (Sarah); Maria, Francis, Veronica, Ana, Maggie, and Luka; Erik, Evan, Laura, Hayden, Colton, Hudson, Cora, and Sierra; Colin and Emma; Caroline and Lilly.

In addition, he is survived by great grandchildren Eldin, Rosalind, Adalene, Gavin, Cooper, Emily, Heather, Julia, Alex, Nessa, Scarlett, Theodore, Brooke, Cooper, Cashlyn, Silas, Sibylla, Eli, Margo, Henry, Diem, and Lukas.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury with interment at St. Norbert's Cemetery.
