Melvin L. Richolson Sr., age 91, passed away at home on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024 after a long hard battle with cancer; he is in a much better place now and at peace.  He was born in New Lisbon to the late Carl and Mabel (Blackburn) Richolson on Dec. 6, 1932.  His family moved to Sauk City where he completed High School there.  Melvin served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.  After returning from the Army, he met and married Karen Grass on Feb. 11, 1956.  Together they moved to California and started a family with Karla, Melvin Jr., Adam and Matthew Scott all born there.  They returned to Sauk City and Melvin became involved in building and racing late model stock car racing for several years.  He enjoyed cheering on the Packers, attending NASCAR races, golfing and camping with family.  After retirement he and Karen spent many winters in Florida where they met many friends and played a lot of golf.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Karen; son's, Melvin (Tracy) of Sarasota, FL., and Adam of Sauk City; sisters, Shirley Parchem of Baraboo, Dorothy and Lyle Kuhnau of Sauk City; grandchildren, Jasmine, Sean, Laurel and Jade Burns, Justin, Travis, Tara, Ashley Richolson, Leah Lengfelds and Kali Schreiber; 19 great grandchildren; sister in-law, Rita Richolson.  His further survived by other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Carla and Mabel Richolson; he was preceded in death by daughter, Karla Burns; son, Matthew; Fred and Maurine Richolson; Ronald Richolson, Donna and Milton Zech, Vernie Parchem; inlaws, Oscar and Hazel Grass, Donnie and Arnie Pickarts, and Eileen and Ozzie Bolgrin.

As per Melvin's wishes, a private service with interment in the Sauk City Cemetery will be held at a later date.
