Obituary

Melvin Glenn Summers, age 80, of Black Earth, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on the family farm near Whitewater, MO on August 9, 1933, the son of the late Glenn W. "Jim" and Laura (Weisenstein) Summers. The family moved to Cape Girardeau in November, 1945, where Melvin lived until June, 1993 when he moved to Black Earth.


He is survived by his brother, Gene (Mary Miron); a niece, Rev. Teri Summers-Minette (Dan Minette); four nephews, James, Jon (Shellia), Robert "Rob" and Tony; two grand nieces and three grand nephews.


A funeral service will be held at MIDLAND UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 10235 County Highway KP, Mazomanie, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Friends may call at the church, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Cape Girardeau at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midland United Methodist Church or to Agrace HospiceCare, Susan Weston Care for All Fund, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
