Merl "Dean" Sheldon, age 84, passed away at his home Saturday, February 5, 2011. Dean was born in Mazomanie, May 3, 1926, the son of the late Clarence and Emily (Reeve) Sheldon. He married the love of his life, Anna Richards on August 2, 1952. Dean worked for many years at Mazomanie Egg and the DeCar Corporation in Middleton.



Dean is survived by his wife Anna; a sister, Betty Coyle of Cross Plains; a sister in-law, Arlene Sheldon of Fort Atkinson; a brother in-law, Melvin (Kay) Johnson; many nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend, Larry Reeve.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Dean, age 4; his father and mother in-law Harvey and Mary (Johnson) Richards; four brothers, Clinton, Wendell, Glen and Lyle.


A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 11:00 am at the HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Hwy. 14 West, Mazomanie. Friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service. A luncheon will be held at Grandma Mary's Cafe in Arena, following the service.
