Obituary

Mildred "Millie" Louise Zantow, age 91, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014. She was born in Hallett, OK, on February 13, 1923 to the late George A. and Effie A. (Vickers) Taylor. Millie graduated in 1941 from high school in Hallett, OK. She married Wayne Stevens in 1944; he preceded her in death in 1963. Millie married Forrest "Woody" Zantow on July 16, 1966. She was a member of both the First Presbyterian Church in Prairie du Sac and Baraboo. Millie lived a life of service and giving back. She was a frequent volunteer at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital, Meals on Wheels, the International Crane Foundation, and was a Pioneer in Plastics Recycling. Starting at a young age she was a caregiver for her family and extended families.

She is survived by her husband, Woody; three sons, Jim (Jude) Stevens of Oregon, WI, Paul (Andrea) Stevens of Ballston Lake, NY, Todd (Cheryl) Zantow of Sauk City; 4 grandchildren, Ted and Sean Stevens, and Jeff and Nicole Zantow; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and seven siblings.


A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, August 11, 2014 at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment at Sumpter Hill Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Millie to your favorite charity.
