Monsignor William E. Stack, age 86, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008. He was born on March 30, 1921 to Alma and William Stack. He attended Edgewood High School and St Francis Seminary in Milwaukee. He was ordained a priest on May 29, 1948 at St. Raphael's Cathedral in Madison, by Bishop William P. O'Connor. Monsignor Stack served at numerous parishes throughout southern Wisconsin. He delighted in being a parish priest and considered his parishioners as family. He last served as pastor of Saint Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury, Wisconsin. Monsignor Stack also served as Chaplain to the Knights of Columbus Council 3099 and the Valley of our Lady Monastery in Prairie du Sac. Thank you to all of the wonderful parishioners at Saint Norbert's who recently made Monsignor Stack's 60th anniversary of his ordination so special. Quoting Monsignor Stack from this event, "I regret that I have only one life to give to my God, to my Christ and to my Savior". He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers John and Tom. He is survived by his sister-in-law Marona Stack of Oregon, Wisconsin, nieces and nephews; Mary Anne (Andy) Schaefer of Sammamish, Washington, Pat Stack of Middleton, Tess (Keith) Kuenning, of Bow, New Hampshire, Jacque (John) Cooney, of Verona, Chris (Kert) Henning, of Kiel and John (Amy) Stack of Oshkosh, Bill Stack of Missoula, Montana, Tom Stack of Superior, Montana and eighteen great nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to John and Amy Stack who opened their home to Monsignor Stack for the last year of his life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Norbert's Church, Roxbury at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 with Bishop Morlino and Monsignor DeBock presiding. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Rosary will be said at 3:45 p.m.) on Monday, March 3, 2008 and also from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at St Norbert's Church in Roxbury. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
