Myrtle (Myrt) E. Fieldhouse, age 82, of Port Washington, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014 in Belvidere, IL.
Born April 14, 1931 in Prairie du Sac, WI to William and Martha (Zug) Yngsdal. She graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1949 and married Roger Fieldhouse on December 18, 1954.
Myrt raised her family in Madison, WI and Rockford, IL, working a number of different jobs and enjoying her children's activities such as Rockford West High athletics, jazz band and the Phantom Regiment. For the past 23 years, she made her home in Port Washington, WI and worked at The Harbor Club until the fall of 2013. Myrt brought joy to the residents there with her wonderful talents in the kitchen. Her specialty was desserts and she made sure everyone was rewarded with their own special birthday treat. After work, Myrt would seek out and say goodnight to each of the residents. She enjoyed returning to her hometown of Prairie du Sac for family events and boat rides on Lake Wisconsin. Myrt relished time spent with her siblings and faithfully cared for her sister Lou in her later years. The world was a kinder place with Myrt in it.
Myrt is survived by her children; Roger Lee of Grand Canyon, AZ, Renee (Cary Whitty) of Rockton, IL, Ronn of Roseville, CA and Brian of Worthington, OH; four grandchildren; Dylan, Alec, and Kristen Mori and Marissa Fieldhouse, sister Pat Hathaway, brothers; Willard, Ed (Marion), Bob (Elaine), Art (Donna), three step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a brother Bill and sistersBea and Lou.
A service to honor Myrt's life will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
