IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Jean
Fox
September 20, 1933 – December 29, 2022
Nancy Jean Monier Fox
Septeber 20, 1933 - December 29, 2022
Nancy AKA "Fancy Nancy" was born on September 20, 1933 to Elizabeth Roness Monier (Betty) and John Lawrence Monier (Lolly). Nancy was an only child raised in Chicago. She was an imp as a child, thus the only child status.
Betty, Lolly and Nancy moved from Chicago to Champaign, IL during Nancy's high school years. Nancy attended Garland Women's College (now part of Smith in Boston, MA). Nancy studied fashion merchandising.
She continued to be a snappy dresser throughout her life. Until Elizabeth took over her daily fashion choices. LOL
Nancy's mom (Betty) introduced Bob Fox to Nancy. "Hubba hubba!!" Bob Fox was a total catch. Kind, smart, handsome, a true gentleman, and a "SNAPPY DRESSER!!" Nancy was hooked. Bob fell in love with a classy, funny young woman named Nancy.
Nancy and Bob as a couple made numerous and lasting friendships. Most of you who knew Nancy would agree she was a very funny woman. Nancy's humor was one of the many things that attracted Bob to Nancy. Nancy was so damn funny!!!!
Nancy married Bob on March 7, 1962. They were married in a hotel officiated by a Rabbi because of the time and views of society in 1962. They spent their first year in Champaign with Nancy's two Irish Terriers. The following year, Bob was offered a job as an administrator at the University of Wisconsin with the Department of Planning and Construction.
Nancy, Bob and Irish Terrier Dugan made the move to Madison, WI. They purchased a home in Shorewood Hills on Lake Mendota Drive. Nancy was pining for something more. The combination of Nancy's low pain threshold and Bob's zero populationist views prompted them to explore adoption. Lucky for a five-and-a-half-year-old girl named Teresa Mallard, Bob and Nancy chose her! Teresa Mallard became Elizabeth Ann Fox in 1967and Bob and Nancy became parents. Nancy became a mom; and Nancy, Bob and Elizabeth became a trio (a family) along with any number of Nancy's dogs. Dugan; Irish Terrier, Scotty the Collie, Zip the black lab, Sally the Collie, Albert the Collie mix, Russell and Piper the Jack Russell Terrorists, and lastly Florie an very sweet Jack Russell terrorist who moved with Nancy to Scotland 6 years ago, and current companion Clyde the Chiweenie and Toodles the calico kitten.
Nancy worked part time at the Bank of Shorewood Hills and Madison Newspapers giving tours. Nancy was a volunteer ambulance driver for the Village of Shorewood Hills Fire Department. Nancy volunteered at Attic Angels as an "Angel." Nancy sat on the board for Agrace Hospice. Nancy hosted the Nancy Fox dinners to invite charitable contributions to AGrace.
Nancy was PEO member. The meaning of POE is a secret but Nancy said once when asked that it meant "People Eating Out." LOL.
Nancy resided in Shorewood Hills, Tamerac Condos, Attic Angel Condos, Apartments, Nursing Home, Scotland, Middleton, and finally along the shores of the Wisconsin River in Prairie du Sac, WI.
Nancy loved her 3 year residence in West Kilbride, Scotland. The Village of West Kilbride embraced Nancy. Nancy attended St Columbus Scottish Episcopal Church up the coast a bit.
Father Gordon Fry not only became her pastor but a tremendously good friend along with his spouse William. Nancy made new friends Jennifer and Gib Fitzgibbon, and Giilian of the wee deli just to name a few. Many thanks to Marion Eade, in particular as well as Linda Hunt, for the respite care they so lovingly provided for Nancy. Nancy adored you!!!
Thank you to Amy Rising who collaborated and assisted in the caper of transporting Nancy via the Queen Mary 2 back to America.
Abundant thanks also to Elesia Jones who became Nancy's respite care upon return from the UK. Elesia became not only a friend but family to Nancy and Elizbeth.
Nancy enjoyed her final two and a half years living by the shores of the Wisconsin River. Nancy was surrounded by caring neighbors and only blocks away from her beloved granddaughter Selena. Selena, her partner Eric, and great grandchildren Everett age 12, Xavier age 8, Annabelle nearly 3, Colton and Eliena 5. Monday family dinners brought Nancy much joy.
Across the pond in the north of England resides Nancy's Granddaughter Islay, her partner Nicholas, and her youngest great grandson Oli. Nancy loved receiving pictures and video of adorable Oli.
Nancy was blessed in family and dear friends. Gratitude to Randy Everson who the universe gifted to Elizabeth and Nancy this last year. Randy offered support, light, love, and laughter to Nancy and Elizabeth. Thank you, Nancy Loved you.
Funny Fancy Nancy who loved family, friends, food, and dogs!!!
