Obituary

Nancy Wipperfurth of Sauk City, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 19 at The Pines assisted living facility in Prairie du Sac.  She was born in Madison on October 28, 1937, to Ted and Verna Diehl. She grew up in Blackhawk and graduated from Sauk City high school. She was united in marriage to Joseph Wipperfurth on June 14, 1956.

Together they raised 4 children. Greg (Diane) Wipperfurth, Jim (Julie) Wipperfurth, Terri (Jerry) Krumenauer, and Amy (Jeff) Crosby.

She was "Gramma Nancy" to 11 grandchildren. Becky (Scott) Ballweg, Jacob Krumenauer, Tony (Annie) Wipperfurth, Jamie (Dylan) Handel,
Jordan (Sara Mrkvicka), Audrey (Mike) Gray, Kyle(Samantha) Crosby, Ted(Jenna) Wipperfurth, Joel (Aisha Liebenow) Wipperfurth, Darin (Courtney) Wipperfurth and Leah (Jeremy) Retrum.

She was also great grandma "fancy Nancy" to 20 great grandchildren who she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by husband Joseph, parents Ted and Verna, Parents-in-law Werner and Florentina, brothers Ron,(often known as Beanie), Stanley (always called Tom) and sister Sandra, in-laws Robert and Mae Wipperfurth, Sylvester and Arlene Wipperfurth, Leo and Joan Wipperfurth, Jerome (Gus) and Gloria Wipperfurth, Pat and Don Swingle, Ray and Shirley Wipperfurth, Delores(Lolly) and Bernard (Dick) Frey, Alvin and Annabelle Wipperfurth, and Ralph Frey.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, in-laws Ronnie and Helen Meinholz, sister-in-law Margaret Diehl and many nieces and nephews and cousins who she always enjoyed visiting with.

She was a stay-at-home mom until she started working at Swistyle dairy as a server. She also was a school lunch lady and finished her working years at Prange Way in the West Towne mall.

She enjoyed playing cards, visiting her many friends and going for a drive, especially on opening day of deer season where she was often known to spot deer from the car and honk the horn to alert the hunters (which didn't really help). She liked canning much of the produce from her garden. We always counted on her for the grasshoppers for the family Christmas party.

She especially liked doing things with her sister and her family and was always ready for a ride in the "Van-Go" to play bingo or to check out the dollar stores. Mom was always ready to go out to eat and we believe the Eagle Inn Restaurant has taken a big hit in their bottom line since she had to cut back on her visits.

A big THANK YOU to so many that made Mom's last months comfortable. Sauk Prairie ambulance crew, Maplewood rehab unit, The Pines Assisted Living for their care, compassion and professionalism and Dr. McAuliffe for his many years of care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at St. Norbert's in Roxbury. There will be no visitation according to Mom's wishes.
