Neil Wayne Thompson, age 56, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born in Baraboo on May 19, 1952, the son of the late Dock and Iola (Canode) Thompson. He graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1971. Neil loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a 20-year member of the Army National Guard 32nd Infantry, E105th Cavalry Regiment, Carpenters Union Local No. 314, and Merrimac Conversation Club. He is survived by two children, Travis Thompson of Endeavor and Carrie (Brandon) Shea of Sparta; a grandson, Jaydon; six siblings, Robert (Nancy) of Merrimac, Tony (LaVonne) of Merrimac, Gale (Lorraine) of North Freedom, Alice (Tom) Frosch of Prairie du Sac, Linda (Ron) Greenheck of Prairie du Sac and Tracie (Dan) McClung of Merrimac; sister-in-law, Linda Thompson of Merrimac; special friend, Linnette Drake; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary. A memorial service will be held at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Merrimac, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, with Pastor Joel Bradtke officiating. Friends may call at the church, one hour prior to the service.
